Hey, folks! Ten years ago I discovered my new obsession — travelling. I think it is fun and has a lot of benefits. I’ve visited different places, countries and cities and today I want to share my opinion about my favorite city, St. Petersburg.

Before the October Revolution, St. Petersburg "Window on Europe" was the capital of Russia and one of the world"s cosmopolitan cities. Great number of foreign experts were employed to bring knowledge and expertise in the arts, crafts and sciences that boosted capital to be the one of famous cities in the world.

The city is cultural centre of the country. It’s a place of grandiose architecture and picturesque canals. Wandering around the city you’ll find world-famous attractions like the Hermitage, St. Isaac"s Cathedral and the Mariinsky Theatre. Every traveler can feel rich atmosphere of this beautiful place.

If you want to have a tour around the city I recommend to use public transport network which is efficient and extensive, though a little bit crowded. The metro is without a doubt the best type of transport for visitors and covers nearly all of the city, with new stations opening almost every year. Also you can see some spectacular station architecture. You can even use the city"s waterways to look around.

If you haven"t been there yet, I hope you will visit St. Petersburg one day and witness the charm of the magnificent city.

My home town (Мой родной город )

I was born in a small town where my granny lived. But a few years later my parents decided to move to another place because they got jobs there. So, now I live in a wonderful town of Kamenets-Podolskyi, which is located in Khmelnitsky region and is very famous among Ukrainians. The population of the town is approximately 120,000 inhabitants .
The town is divided into several parts but the main division may be as follows: the new town and the old town. All the historical monuments , memorials and museums are concentrated in the old town where you can meet tourists from all over the world. Different concerts and international festivals are held here. However, the main tourist attraction is the large fortress , which, according to the historical records , was founded in the 11th century as a defensive fort by Cossacks. This fortress has become a great tourist attraction of my town.
The new part of the town is quite modern and busy . The streets are full of people; the roads are full of cars as in any other town or city. It is the place where you can easily find lots of cafes, restaurants and hotels.
In general, the town is highly industrially developed . There are a lot of plants and factories . At the same time it is a student town due to many educational establishments and schools. In addition, if you like to do outdoor activities or relax in the nature , there are a lot of parks and gardens, which, by the way, make the town look green and fresh. I am sure that people of ages can find what to do in Kamenets-Podilskyi because there is a lot of entertainment there, which varies from disco clubs and cinemas to art galleries and libraries .
This is the town of contrasts where the past is tightly connected with the present. I am really glad that I am its citizen .

I live and study in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It’s my native city as I was born here. Kazan is located on the left bank of the Volga river and it was founded more than one thousand years ago. So it is a very old place, with rich and fascinating history. The population of my city is multinational and enormous: about one and a half million people. Kazan has changed greatly from the moment when I was born and it has grown much bigger, but still it keeps its own traditions and some strict religious rules. The people of my city are friendly and hospitable, polite and intelligent to my mind.

The capital of Tatarstan is a city of contrasts: there are quarters of modern high-rise buildings and districts with old historical places; some districts are awfully noisy and crowded, with long traffic jams, the others are very clean and quiet. Our transport system is really busy: we have a railway station, a big river port, an airport, buses, trolleybuses, trams and trains of the Kazan metro which was opened in 2005.

There are plenty of impressive sights for our guests in the historical centre of the city: the Kremlin of the 10 th century, the Millenium bridge, the Kul-Sharif mosque and other beautiful cathedrals and mosques. Kazan has unique museums, able to suit any taste: the Fine Arts museum, the museum of Leo Tolstoy, the National museum of Tatarstan, the museum of Zoology.

My native city is a recognized sports capital of Russia. It has hosted many important sports events. The International Summer Universiade of 2013 was among them. And in 2018 our city is going to host the FIFA World Cup.

I feel proud of my birthplace and I am sure that Kazan is the place which is worth visiting at least once in our life. I know that many tourists from abroad come here and they feel enraptured with the local sights.

В историческом центре города находится множество впечатляющих достопримечательностей для гостей: Кремль 10-го века, мост Миллениум, мечеть Кул-Шариф и другие красивые соборы и мечети. В Казани есть уникальные музеи, способные удовлетворить любой вкус: музей изящных искусств, музей Л.Толстого, национальный музей Татарстана, зоологический музей.

Мой родной город является признанной спортивной столицей России. Он принимал гостей многих важных спортивных событий. Международная летняя Универсиада-2013 была одной из них. А в 2018 г. наш город собирается принимать участников Кубка мира FIFA.

Я горжусь местом своего рождения, и я уверен, что Казань - это место, которое стоит посетить хотя бы раз в жизни. Я знаю, что многие туристы приезжают к нам, и они приходят в восторг от местных достопримечательностей.

My Town

You can see many people and children on the Volga Bay. There are many exciting coloured fountains here. In summer you can boat and in winter you can skate.

We have a lot of parks. Each park is very nice and cozy, where children and their parents gather for the merry and bright holidays, musical fairy tales, theatrical performances. Cheboksary is situated on both banks of the Volga, and is one of the most beautiful green cities in Russia. The main advantage of the Chuvash Republic is good location on the Volga River, which flows through the picturesque and green places. Volga and Sursko beaches, attractive natural landscape are attractive moments for tourism development.

The town also has a cinema. I love to go and watch movies with friends and parents.

We have a lot of monuments. Cheboksary is the cultural center of the republic and has more than 100 monuments, including prominent figures of culture and art.

I like Cheboksary very much and I love my city.

My favourite town

I live in a wonderful, beautiful town. I love it very much. The name of my town is Kotovo. It is situated not far from Volgograd.

I have arrived to live in this town recently. I have lived in St.-Petersburg before. Kotovo differs from big cities greatly. It is small and quiet. Life is measured, calm and kind. Everyone knows each other. People are kind, beautiful, native, close in my town. You don`t feel lonely here, as a rule it happens in big cities.

There are a library, a cinema, a palace of culture, a museum, a big sports hall and five schools in my town. Also there is a swimming pool in the sports hall. Children of my city like to visit it. There is a very beautiful central park. It is very beautiful in spring and summer. I like to have a rest, to sit on the bench and to read a book in the park. I like to walk on foot around the city, because I like to dream about my future. Kotovo is a magic place, especially in the evening. There are many old houses, monuments, small and narrow streets in the town. All these things create fantastic, mysterious atmosphere. I have met my love, my husband in this town.

Kotovo is the best town in the earth. And when I leave from it I always miss it very much. You can`t fall in love with my town.

Я приехала жить в этот город недавно. До этого я жила в Санкт-Петербурге. Котово очень отличается от больших городов. Он маленький и тихий. Жизнь размеренная, спокойная и добрая. Каждый знает друг друга. В моем Городе люди добрые, красивые, родные, близкие. Ты не чувствуешь себя одиноким здесь, как правило это случается в больших городах.

В моем городе есть библиотека, кинотеатр, дом культуры, музей, большой спортивный зал и пять школ. Также есть бассейн в спортивном зале. Дети моего города любят посещать его. Есть очень красивый центральный парк. Он очень красивый весной и летом. Я люблю отдохнуть, посидеть на скамейке и почитать книгу в этом парке. Я люблю гулять пешком по городу, потому что я люблю мечтать о будущем. Котово сказочное место, особенно вечером. Есть много старых домов, памятников, маленьких узких улиц в городе. Все эти вещи создают сказочную, таинственную атмосферу. Я встретила свою любовь, своего мужа в этом городе.

Котово самый лучший город на земле. И когда я уезжаю из него я всегда очень скучаю по нему. Вы не сможете не полюбить мой город.
